The Lydia Osteoporosis Project Symposium 2026 was held at Queen Margaret University (QMU) on 20 May 2026 and brought together people living with osteoporosis, family members and carers, healthcare professionals, researchers, students and members of the wider community for a day of education, engagement and knowledge exchange.

The symposium aimed to raise awareness of osteoporosis as a significant public health issue while providing accessible, evidence-informed information on bone health, osteoporosis prevention and living well with osteoporosis. The programme combined expert presentations with practical and interactive sessions, including exercise workshops, opportunities to experience weight-bearing and strength-based activities, dance-based movement sessions and demonstrations of bone-friendly nutrition.

The symposium provided an important opportunity to share research, promote learning, facilitate networking and strengthen connections between people with lived experience, healthcare professionals, researchers and community organisations.
